This recipe was entered in the contest for Your Best Recipe with Tomato and Basil.


My Grandmother's famous Ramatuiele recipe.
We grow tomatoes every summer just to make this awesome sauce!

Serves 4-6

  • 1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 3 pounds ripe tomatoes
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 3 teaspoons salt
  • 1 cup fresh basil
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 pound rotini

In the bowl you're going to serve the pasta in, crush the garlic in the salt with the back of a spoon. Add the olive oil. Coarsely chop the basil and tomatoes. Add the basil, tomatoes and pepper to the bowl. Stir and let ripen in the fridge for an hour or two. Cook 1 pound of rotini then run under cold water to cool. Drain. Add to bowl with sauce, mix and serve.
